★ EP - 1 [THE INTRODUCTION] ★

Karunesh's POV

STARTED

I was on my way to my home. I was cursing my teacher because I didn't do anything, like nothing. For real, teachers are a headache sometimes. I was walking down the street when I heard someone's footsteps. Firstly, I ignored that for a second, but my curious self wanted to see what the hell was happening, and I turned around and I saw a man running behind a soft, fluffy, white rabbit.

Why are these men so cruel to the animals these days? I shouted at him to stop, "Hey, wait!!!!" But he didn't even listen to my voice, so I ran behind him. I saw an electric pole, so I hid there and saw that the man selling that rabbit to the pet shop owner and went to the other path. I cursed in my mind, "What the fuck? Why did he sell that rabbit? Like, how can people do this? I'm going to save him!!!" I took my step to the shop, but I turned back. "But... I can't… Sorry, Rabbit, but I have to go home right now…" I sighed and took my feet back and ran to my home. "I have no time for it… I have to go and do my work…"

KARUNESH WENT TO HIS HOME AND COMPLETED HIS HOMEWORK, SITTING ON THE CHAIR AND OPENING HIS EYES THE WHOLE NIGHT JUST TO COMPLETE HIS HOMEWORK. HIS MIND WAS CONTINUOUSLY GOING TO THE RABBIT....

*The flashback started.*

I want to see what the hell is happening, and I saw a man running behind a soft, fluffy white rabbit. Why are these men so cruel to the animal these days? I shouted ,I wanted him to stop " Hey wait!!!!! " But he didn't even listen to my voice, so I ran behind him. I saw an electric pole, so I hid there and saw that man selling that rabbit and went to the other path. I cursed in my mind, "What the fuck? Why did he sell that rabbit? Like, how can people do this? I'm going to save him!!!"

*The flashback ended.*

He threw his pen with a noise on the table and parted his lips and said, "Why... Like why??? I'm remembering that rabbit!!!! Agh!! I'm hungry thinking about these things…" He said and went downstairs, where his family was eating the food. He ate the food, but his mind was continuously going to the rabbit he saw the last day.

*The next day started.

My best friend Akhil and I were returning from the school.*

We were walking through the streets. I saw people hustling, rushing, talking, and buying groceries when my eyes went to Akhil, who wanted to say something, but he didn't say it.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN AKHIL AND KARUNESH (From Karunesh's POV)

So I asked him, "What are you thinking, bro?"

He was my best friend, whom I could trust, though haha… He loved video games and peaceful atmospheres like me.

He replied to me, "I am not feeling good today," he said in a low voice.

So I asked him again, "Is there anything bothering you? You can share it with me."

He shouted at me, "How can you just forget about my birthday?"

I was stunned by his words. I took some steps back, and I said, "Akhil, I actually don't know what is happening with me. I am unable to hear things now."

He replied to me, "I know. I also feel something unusual in you today. You should share your problems with me, but you are asking me." He said it angrily, giving me a death stare.

I replied to him, "Akhil, I think you are right. I am feeling...that...I...am...not a good human."

He asked me with a confusing expression, "But why?" you are a good human. I mean, I know you forgot about my birthday, but it doesn't make sense......"

I stopped him and told him, "I am not saying this because I forgot about your birthday." His jaw dropped. "I said it because I didn't...help him."

Akhil looked at me with a serious expression and shouted at me, "Who the hell are you talking about?"

I replied angrily, "Hey, why are you behaving so rudely to me today? And I was just talking about that rabbit whom I was unable to save from those goons."

Akhil again looked at me with a sad expression and said, "I am actually feeling bad that my best friend forgot my precious day, and we have our exam too, which is about to start next week. I am feeling tense today." He stopped and said with a low voice, "Sorry, buddy."

I hugged him, and I said, "I know you are not a bad human, and I am really sorry I forgot about your birthday, but trust me, I will not repeat this mistake again, and I will help you score good marks."

He calmed down and said, "Yesterday I was waiting for you, and I cut my cake without you. That was the first time I did it since we met. You are not a bad human either," and he hugged me back. "But what can we do to save that rabbit? We are just 8th grade students, Madhav?"

I replied to him, "I think we can help him, but I need your help."

He replied to me, "What kind of help do you want?"

I replied to him, "How much

much money do you have?"

He replied back, "Around 7 crores, but why are you asking?"

KARUNESH GAVE HIM A DEATH STARE.

He became awkward and said, "You mean how much I have right now? Aah, 1000 rupees."

I replied to him, "Just give it to me, and I will return it to you later."

AKHIL HANDS OVER THE MONEY TO KARUNESH.

He said, "Now, I am going home. Bye, Madhav."

I replied to him, "Ok, buddy, take care. Bye."

KARUNESH AND AKHIL SHAKED HAND, AND AKHIL HEADING HOME, BUT KARUNESH IS HEADING TO THE PET SHOP.

KARUNESH ENTERED THE PET SHOP,

CONVERSATION BETWEEN KARUNESH AND THE OWNER (From Karunesh's POV)

I greeted the pet shop owner, "Good afternoon, sir."

He greeted me back, "Good afternoon, kid, but why did you came here?"

I WAS STARING AT THE RABBIT; HE WAS THE ONLY WHITE RABBIT IN THE HERD OF BROWN AND BLACK RABBITS.

THEY WERE KEPT CAPTIVE IN CAGES.

Lost in my thoughts, I asked myself, Why can’t I help all of them??"

He snapped his finger , "I am asking you, kid, why you came here."

I replied with a lower voice, "Sir, I want to buy that rabbit," and I pointed at the white rabbit.

The shop owner looked at the white rabbit, and he laughed at Karunesh.

He said, "Kid, bring your parents."

I replied to him, "I have the permission; see, I have money too." I showed him money.

He said with a creepy smile, "You think you can trick me so easily? , huh But I am ready to sell him to you, but I have some conditions."

I said, "What kind of conditions, sir?"

He replied with a serious tone, "I will sell it to you, but after that I will not take him back; I don't want this troublemaker."

I was shocked; I tried to ask him, "Sir, why are you calling him tr...."

He became serious and said, "I am selling it for 2600 rupees; just say you want it or not."

I replied back, "I want him, but why is he so expe....."

He shouted at me, "Just tell me if you are going to buy it or not; don't waste my time, kid."

I took a long breath and said, "I want to buy him, without the cage."

I CAN FEEL THEIR PAIN OF BEING CAPTIVE IN A CAGE.

The shop owner took the amount, and he took out the only white rabbit, and he handover it to Karunesh.

KARUNSH LEFT THE SHOP, AND HE IS STILL HUGGING THE RABBIT.

I still believe he looted me. How can a rabbit become so expensive, and why the hell did he call this cute rabbit a trouble maker? I am feeling angry and confused too.

Author's POV

Started

The rabbit struggled to escape from Karunesh's grip, and finally the rabbit escaped by jumping out of his hands and started running. At first Karunesh was shocked, but then he immediately ran to him. Karunesh was feeling tired and panting, but he was still running just to save that rabbit. Karunesh was feeling tired because he chased that rabbit and took a breath standing. Panting on the street, a rabbit approached the middle of the zebra crossing, and the lights turned from red to green. Karunesh panicked, and he jumped on the rabbit. The rabbit was shocked too to see something falling on him, and it was Karunesh. He covered him with his stomach, hands, and legs, with his eyes closed, and scared of being killed by moving vehicles, but nothing happened. He opened his eyes and saw cars and trucks still waiting for them to get away.

A man came out of his car and shouted at Karunesh, "Hey kid, this is a road, not your playground!"

NOW KARUNESH WAS ON HIS WAY TO GO BACK HOME WITH THE FLUFFY WHITE RABBIT, BUT THIS TIME HE HOLDS HIM MORE TIGHTLY SO THAT HE CAN'T RUN AWAY THIS TIME.

BEING LOST IN HIS THOUGHTS, KARUNESH ENTERED HIS HOME. WHEN HE LOOKED AT HIS MOTHER, WHO WAS ANGRILY LOOKING AT HIM, SHE SAID...

CONVERSATION BETWEEN KARUNESH AND HIS MOTHER (From Author's POV)

His mother shouted at him, "Why does your uniform seem dirty? Did you get involved in a fight?"

He replied with a low voice, "Mom, I want to keep this rabbit."

SHE GLANCED DOWN AT THE RABBIT IN HIS HANDS, THEN SLOWLY LIFTED HER EYES BACK TO HIM.

She shouted at him, "Why the hell did you bring him here ? and why do you want to keep him?"

He replied with tears, "Mom, yesterday I saw a man who caught this rabbit and sold him. I just wanted to help him."

She calmed down and replied sweetly, "I know my son very well. I know you have a soft heart, but still, son, there are a lot of animals getting caught and sold, and even sometimes evil people kill them for fun and money. Do you think you can save all of them?"

He replied with tears, "Mom, I know. I can't help all of them, and I realized this when I was buying it. I was unable to save all of them, but at least I can save him."

She replied sweetly, "Son, you have never demanded anything with this stubbornness. Sigh, ok, fine, you can keep him, but first promise me that you will always take care of and protect your little friend."

He replied with a glow in his eyes and a little smile, "Thank you, Mom. I promise I will protect him, and I will take care of him."

She replied, "Sigh, now, son, give me the address of that shop; your father needs to know about this illegal shop."

He replied, "Sure, Mom."

KARUNESH GAVE THE PET SHOP ADDRESS TO HIS MOTHER; SHE WENT TO CALL HER HUSBAND, & KARUNESH WENT TO EAT.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN KARUNESH'S MOTHER AND FATHER

(From the Author's POV)

His mother started conversations. "Hey honey, have you eaten your lunch properly today?"

He replied with a sweet tone, "Honey, I didn't even get the chance to open my lunchbox. I am sorry; I was busy in a meeting."

His mother replied with a quivering voice, "I know, honey, your work demands time, but it doesn't mean that you should skip your lunch too."

And then said with tears, "Eat it right after the call ends, and this is my order."

His father said, "Ok, I am sorry I made you cry, but please, it breaks my heart. I am going to finish it; don't worry."

His mother said, "I am missing you so much; when will you come back?"

His father replied, "I can't assure you, but I will try to finish my work before Karunesh's birthday."

His mother replied with tears of joy, "You mean you are coming back in two months? Thank you, hubby, but I have something serious to inform you."

His father replied with an angry expression, "Is it related to that goon, kids?"

His mother replied, "No, Madhav has adopted a pet rabbit today, and he informed me about an illegal pet shop."

His father replied with anger, "What? Send me the address; my officers will take care of it."

HIS MOTHER SENT THE ADDRESS TO HIS FATHER.

AFTER READING THE ADDRESS, HIS FATHER BECAME SHOCKED.

His father said, "Huh, honey, my seniors already planned a raid on such shops, including this one too."

His mother replied, "Oh, that's great."

His father replied, "Now, I am disconnecting your call. I have to eat my lunch, and don't forget to send me those cute rabbit photos. Bye."

His mother replied, "Sure, honey, bye."

NIGHT-TIME

KARUNESH COMPLETED HIS HOMEWORK, AND LOCKED HIMSELF IN HIS ROOM WITH THE RABBIT . THEY HELD EYE CONTACT FOR A MOMENT, SILENT AND STILL. THEN KARUNESH's ATTENTION SHIFTED TO THE FIREFLIES DRIFTING NEAR HIS WINDOW.

He again lost in his thought, "Wow, they are so beautiful; nature is really beautiful."

HIS MOTHER KNOCKED ON HIS ROOM DOOR AND ASKED HIM TO COME FOR DINNER.

Karunesh got back into his senses and took Rabbit along with him, and they went to the dinner table. After eating food, he again took Rabbit along with him, and he came back to his room and started a video call.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN KARUNESH AND RIDDHI (FROM KARUNESH'S POV)

I started the conversation with "Hey Riddhi, how are you?"

She replied, "I am fine; what about you?"

I said, "Me too. Let me show you something."

KARUNESH GRABBED RABBIT AND LIFTED HIM FROM THE GROUND, AND HE PUT HIM ON THE TABLE.

She replied with excitement, "Hey wow, now you are a pet owner too, Madhav."

I replied with a little smile, "Yeah."

RIDDHI SHOWED HER PARROT TO RABBIT.

She said, "Hey, Tuktuk, look, you have one more brother now." "By the way, Madhav, please introduce your rabbit to us."

I replied back with a confusing expression, "I actually haven't named him yet, but I have got a name for him, that is, JUGNU."

THE RABBIT JUMPED DOWN AND WENT TO ANOTHER ROOM.

She said, "Madhav, no need to bring him here right now; let him explore your mansion so he gets comfortable with you and your surroundings."

I replied back, "I am thinking this too. By the way, where is Rioo?"

She giggled and replied back, "You know him; he is a sleepy dog."

I replied to her, "Yeah, I forgot about that thing. By the way, when will you publish 'YOU ARE MY SWEETEST LIE' chapter 4, my dear MAJESTIC?"

She replied to me, "I will publish it soon, my dear MADHAV."

JUGNU IS IN ANOTHER ROOM, WHICH IS DARK, SILENTLY STANDING AT ONE PLACE, AND HE SUDDENLY STANDS ON HIS LEGS.

JUGNU'S POV

Why are these humans so stupid? I never wanted to have a human partner.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN JUGNU AND MONKEY AGENT (From Jugnu's POV)

I said, "BANDAR DADA!!!!!!"

NOW, JUGNU JUMPED TO HIM AND GREETED THE MONKEY AGENT.

I said, "Good evening, sir. What brings you here?"

Monkey agent: "I told you 100 times, stop calling me that. I am your senior; you should be respectful to me."

Jugnu replied with a low voice, "Oh, sorry, I was just excited to see you after a long time."

Monkey agent: "I understand, but I am here to inform you that the police have raided that pet shop, and the owner is now under arrest, but that smuggler is still missing."

Jugnu replied with anger. "I lost him because of that idiot; he groped me so badly that I can't escape."

The monkey agent replied with a serious expression, "You think that he is an idiot?"

Jugnu replied, "Yes, he is an idiot; because of him, I lost him."

The monkey agent replied with a soft voice, "Sigh, see Rabinja, I was present there when he was running behind you. You know he risked his own life just to save that rabbit, who later is going to call that savior an idiot. I know you lost him (the smuggler), but you got him (Karunesh). If showing care means you are an idiot, then I am happy to say that he is the best idiot I have ever seen."

Jugnu replied with a low voice, "Sorry, I was just thinking about my mission failure, but I forgot about him and his care. I am an idiot in reality, but why are you calling me an idiot? It hurts.

The monkey agent replied, "Ok, just leave this topic. I am here to give you so... wait, I think your human is coming."

THE MONKEY AGENT LEFT THE PLACE, AND JUGNU GOT BACK ONTO HIS 4 LEGS.

KARUNESH ENTERED THE ROOM AND TOOK JUGNU ALONG WITH HIM FOR THE BED.

NEXT DAY IN MORNING TIME, JUGNU WOKE UP WITH SOME NOISE. HE SAW A HUMAN RUNNING, AND THEN THAT HUMAN CLIMBED A STREET LIGHT BECAUSE A DOG WAS BARKING AT HIM.

JUGNU'S POV

"Sigh, why do these humans always get in trouble?"

I jumped out of the window and went down and hid behind a wall near to that dog, and I jumped upon him, and I started pulling his ears and distracted him, and that human ran into Karunesh's house.

With a confused expression, "What the hell? Why did he run into my house?"

JUGNU'S POV

CONVERSATION BETWEEN JUGNU AND DOG (from Jugnu's POV)

"The dog said with an angry expression, 'Get off me, you idiot!!'"

Jugnu said with a confused expression, "What??? Did you just use Anicall (common animal language)? "

Dog shouted, "First of all, stop pulling my ears and get off my head; it hurts."

Jugnu said, "Okay, I will, but please stop running here and there."

The dog said, "Okay, fine, now get off my head."

THAT HUMAN APPROACHED KARUNESH'S HOUSE AND STARTED CONTINUOUSLY KNOCKING ON THE DOOR.

JUGNU TOOK OUT HIS WOODEN STICK FROM HIS HIDDEN POCKET AND STOOD ON HIS TWO LEGS (FOR A POWER SHOW).

Jugnu said while making eye contact with the dog, "Now tell me, who are you, enemy?"

Dog said sarcastically, "Do you want to fight with me?"

Jugnu said angrily, "If I have to, then I will."

THE DOG STOOD ON HIS TWO LEGS.

Dog said sarcastically, I didn't hear you?

JUGNU PUT BACK HIS WOODEN STICK.

Jugnu said sweatingly, "I can easily defeat you, but I want to handle this situation peacefully. Now get back on your fours, and I am too getting on my fours."

Dog said, "Good decision!"

Jugnu said, "Now tell me, who are you, and why did you attack that boy?"

The dog said, "It's me, Rioo, dog agent. I am not your enemy until you have done something unlawful."

Jugnu said with a confused expression, "I think I heard this name somewhere."

Rioo shouted, "How can you forget about me, Tuktuk, and Riddhi so easily?"

Jugnu said with an angry expression, "Why are you shouting at me? I just forgot about you all."

Rioo said, "Oh, really? Now tell me, who the hell are you?"

Jugnu said with a smile, "I'm Rab—" *clear throat* "—Jugnu, AKA Rabinja, and I am your area commander (15 sq km area)."

Rioo said with a shocked expression, "You mean, you are our new commander?"

Jugnu nodded.*

RIOO AND JUGNU SHOWED EACH OTHER THEIR AGENT IDS.

Rioo started laughing—"You are too short to be a commander. Oh, the command office is too smart to choose such a shorty as our commander."

Jugnu said with a sad expression, "Did you never hear of my legacy?"

Rioo said, "Commander, chill. I was just joking. By the way, my little brother Tuktuk is very angry with you; he told me about your action last night. That is why I was approaching your house to beat you."

Jugnu was shocked and asked, "What? You will beat me because I ignored you, your brother, and Riddhi?"

Rioo shouted, "Yes, I can do anything for my human partner and my little brother, but don't worry, she introduced you as our brother, so I was just about to scold you, but when I was approaching here, I saw that kid just throwing a cola can on the road, so to discipline him, I was just barking; I was not about to bite him."

KARUNESH WOKE UP AND RAN DOWNSTAIRS AND OPENED THE DOOR. HE FOUND AKHIL AT HIS DOORSTEP PANTING, AND HE RAN INTO HIS HOUSE. WHEN KARUNESH WAS ABOUT TO CLOSE THE DOOR, HE FOUND JUGNU AND RIOO AT THE ROAD.

Jugnu said, "Wait, let me go and ch..."

KARUNESH APPROACHED THEM, AND HE TOOK JUGNU IN ONE HAND AND THE LEASH OF RIOO IN HIS OTHER HAND, AND HE BROUGHT THEM BACK TO HIS HOME.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN KARUNESH, AKHIL, AND KARUNESH'S MOTHER (from Karunesh's POV)

Akhil shouted, "You idiot, why the hell did you bring him here?"

Karunesh asked, "Why are you afraid of him? You just had to show your face to him. It's your fault that you were wearing a mask today, but why did you wear a mask today?"

AKHIL TOOK OFF HIS MASK.

Akhil answered with lightning in his eyes—"You know, many girls have a crush on me, don't you?"

Karunesh said, "Sigh, yeah, but not many. Only 3-4 girls have a crush on you."

Akhil said awkwardly, "But still, at least it is more than one."

KARUNESH IGNORED HIM AND ASKED HIS MOTHER.

Karunesh asked his mother, "Mom, why were Jugnu and Rioo alone outside?"

His mother replied, "Son, Jugnu is your responsibility, and Rioo is Riddhi's responsibility."

Karunesh apologized with a low voice—"Sorry, Mom."

His mother said, "No need to feel sorry, son; just don't repeat this type of mistake in the future."

KARUNESH'S MOTHER WENT TO THE KITCHEN.

JUGNU LOOKED AT RIOO.

Jugnu asked, "He is his friend, and you know it. Do you want to continue disciplining him?"

Rioo said sarcastically, "Why not? He did something bad, and I like to tease him too."

Karunesh again looked at Akhil and asked, "By the way, I know Rioo likes to tease you, but you were wearing a mask today, so why did he attack you?"

Akhil said with a sad expression, "I don't know. I was just enjoying my cola, and after finishing it, I was searching for garbage but didn't find that, so I thought to put it in my bag, but it slipped out of my hand, and Rioo attacked me."

Karunesh said sarcastically, "That means Rioo has done a good job. Now our whole school, especially those three girls, needs to know about the bad thing you have done today."

Akhil shouted, "No, you will not; you are my friend; you are not going to tell anyone, will you?"

Karunesh said, pointing at his bag, "Maybe, maybe not."

Akhil said, "Sigh, ok, you want me to carry your bag today?"

Karunesh started laughing—"No need; let's complete our project work."

AUTHOR'S POV

KARUNESH AND AKHIL WENT TO KARUNESH'S ROOM.

IN THE MEANTIME, JUGNU LOOKED AT RIOO AGAIN.

Jugnu asked, "Now, do you want to say something?"

Rioo looked away and said with a low voice, "No."

Jugnu said, "You should wait for him to pick up that empty can."

Rioo said, "Okay, fine, it's my mistake."

KARUNESH AND AKHIL BROUGHT THEIR PROJECT INTO THE DRAWING ROOM.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN KARUNESH AND AKHIL (From Karunesh's POV)

Karunesh asked, "Akhil, have you brought the project file?"

Akhil said, "Yes, let me take it out for you."

AKHIL PUT HIS BAG ON THE TABLE AND UNZIPPING IT, AND THEN SUDDENLY A LITTLE BIRD WALKED OUT OF THE BAG.

KARUNESH AND AKHIL BOTH WERE SHOCKED, AND THEN AKHIL GOT A FLASHBACK.

FLASHBACK STARTED (From Akhil's POV)

I was on my way to Karunesh's house and suddenly I saw a crow attacking on a little bird and that bird fell down in front of me in dustbin and I rushed to that dustbin and I took out that bird, at first I thought he might be dead but suddenly I felt a hope when I saw his eyes flickering , so I took out my water bottle and pour water in the mouth of that little bird and after few seconds that bird stood up and then flew away and I also went on my way to Karunesh's home ,and after covering some distance I bought a cola can from a shop and then after finishing it , I didn't found a dustbin, so I thought to put it in my backpack ,so i unzipped my bag's chain but suddenly it slipped out of my hand and rioo attacked me and.....

The flashback ended.

Karunesh snapped his fingers and asked, "Hey buddy, what happened?"

Akhil said, "Aah, nothing."

AKHIL TOOK THE BIRD IN HIS HANDS, AND HE PUT HIM ON THE WINDOW, AND THE BIRD FLEW AWAY.

After 5 minutes, Riddhi entered Karunesh's house.

Riddhi asked Karunesh, "Did Rioo come here?"

KARUNESH POINTED TOWARDS RIOO.

Riddhi said, "Oh, so here you are."

Karunesh asked, "Hey, by the way, why did you bring Tuktuk here?"

Riddhi answered - "because, when I woke up, I found his cage empty, so I took the cage along with me and I started searching for him, and I found him near the street light, and I entered here to check for Rioo too".

KARUNESH'S MOTHER ENTERED THE DRAWING ROOM.

His mother asked, "Riddhi, how are you, dear?"

Riddhi said, "Fine, Aunty."

His mother said, "Riddhi, and both of you are getting late for school. And Riddhi, last month you had left your one pair of uniform, so go to my room and change fast and take your bag from your house; it will save your time."

Riddhi said, "Okay, aunty."

RIDDHI PUT TUKTUK'S CAGE ON THE FLOOR AND WENT TO CHANGE. AKHIL AND KARUNESH WERE BUSY WITH PROJECT WORK.

AUTHOR'S POV

Jugnu looked at Tuktuk and found that Tuktuk was giving him a death stare with a neck-cutting signal, and suddenly he opened his cage, and he attacked Jugnu. Tuktuk started hitting Jugnu's head with his beak, and Jugnu started running here and there. Rioo is enjoying watching drama, and then Jugnu hides behind a wall. KARUNESH, RIDDHI, AND AKHIL PASSED A SMILE TO EACH OTHER, AND THEY WERE ABOUT TO LEAVE, BUT SUDDENLY TUKTUK SAID

Tuktuk said, "Sigh, poor kids, passing fake smiles to each other."
